Biography

Diego F. Mojica Moncada joined the IATTC staff in 2024. He worked for five years as a tuna observer on board industrial tuna fishing vessels. And another five years as a marine mammal observer on fishing and seismic survey vessels, installing underwater cables, in exploratory areas of marine drilling and oil platforms. In addition, he worked as a specialized professional in the knowledge and information generation office of the National Aquaculture and Fisheries Authority (AUNAP) of Colombia. In recent years he served as Senior Coordinator of the management plans for Marine Protected Areas in Colombia within the framework of the global agreement for biodiversity 30 x 30 strategy developed by the UN Convention on Biological Diversity (CDB). He served as a consultant for the FAO document in the fisheries diagnosis of the Magdalena and Cauca, Colombia river basin. He is part of the group of experts of the Antarctic Regional Water Sciences Subgroup of the Intergovernmental Hydrological Program (PHI-LAC) of UNESCO and has participated as a researcher in scientific expeditions to Antarctica.
